Week #6: June 15-22, 2026
Week #6 6/15-6/22
Water temps: 61-66
This week of fishing was better than the last but still not great! Stable temps and finally a break in the wind allowed for some repeatable walleye bites all week long! Some high quality eaters, a few limits and also some really nice slots and over hit the deck this week! I’m not sure what happened, but the fish this week have been fighting extremely hard and it’s been a blast on those big ones!
The main technique we focused on this week was a bobber and a leech, again. However, we are starting to move deeper. 12-25’ was our target range and deeper was more common than shallower!
We are still seeing fish on rock structure. They are either farther down the sides or on the deeper parts of the structure, we are not seeing them right on top like early June.
There aren’t many secrets to what we are doing. Moving a lot and fishing a ton of big pods of fish hoping to get 1-2, or if we are lucky 3-4 out of each pod. But it’s mostly 1 or 2 fish per spot. Not getting stuck in a spot is the biggest key, before you know it you have been there for 1.5 hours and you have gotten six bites and only caught two maybe three. Keep moving and picking off the aggressive fish.
The smallmouth bite has been a little different as well lately for us. We are getting a few on top water, a few on spinners, and a few on bobbers in 10-12’. They are either right on shore in less than 1’ of water or out deeper. I think some hot sunny days will flip this bite over night! If you can find some areas with bug hatches going on the top water bite should be better as well.
The Muskies we are seeing are sitting around the bugs. Find the bugs, find the fish. Using SI to find bugs and bait fish in the water and then casting on those has been giving guys plenty of opportunities. There’s fish scattered all over right now; weeds, rock, and open water.
