Here at Fishing with Z, we offer fully guided open water fishing trips during the summer months on one of Northern Minnesota’s best lakes, Lake Vermilion. Our specialty is walleye, but we also love chasing the giant smallmouth that reside here, along with the fish of 10,000 casts, muskies. During the winter months, we run fully set up Ice Castle sleeper houses with plowed road access. It’s hard to beat a night on the ice in a top-of-the-line fish house!

During the open water season, which goes from the second weekend of May through the end of October, we fish every single day. Our top priority is to stay on the fish so we can provide our clients with the best experience possible while they are in our boats. We are very experienced fishermen who use the best techniques to put fish in the boat. Being able to switch techniques on the fly plays a huge part in being successful on Vermilion. We provide all of the rods, tackle, bait, knowledge, and fish cleaning during your trip, so all you have to do is show up and catch fish.

During the winter season, which goes from around Christmas through the last Sunday in February (MN law for walleye season), we have fully set up Ice Castle sleeper houses. Show up and drive on our plowed road right to your warmed-up, ready-to-fish house. Sleeping on the ice is something everyone should experience at least once in their life. From giant walleyes, big perch, and the always fun eelpout/burbot, Lake Vermilion has a ton to offer during the winter. You can even bring your snowmobiles and use the Ice Castle as a home base and travel off the beaten path to find pods of fish nobody has touched all winter long.
