Week #17 of the open water season! September 2-9, 2024

Water temps: 66-70

Another week down on The Big V! We saw a big cold front come in this week but it didn’t seem to change the fishing much! Now we have summer weather coming back so I think the leadcore bite will continue for another couple of weeks!

Short and sweet this week. I am still pulling leadcore on the mud flats. I have been focusing on the 18-24’ flats but I expect the deeper areas (26-32’) to start holding some more fish as we get closer to fall. I expect some fall spots to start holding more fish each day but until this point, they have been vacant for me.

The fishing has been very consistent. We are sorting through a lot of little fish but have had no issues getting keepers all 14” and bigger!
