Week #20 of the open water season! September 23-30,2024

Water temps: 66-69

Another solid week of fishing in The Big V! Summer time temps had fish scattered everywhere but they were catchable!

My best bites this week were trolling lead core in 28-34’ of water, jigging on gravel/sand transitions and jigging isolated boulders in deep holes! Pick the technique you like, and you will have plenty of chances at walleyes.

Bouncing around from spot to spot was huge in putting larger numbers of fish in the boat this week! Catch a few of the aggressive fish and then move on. Using the smallest jig possible was a big key. 1/8 ounce jigs out produced any other size. When trolling lead core Shad raps are still the go to bait. Chrome colors worked best with the high sunny skies we had all week long!

I will be posting one more report next week! I’m excited to finally have some fall weather rolling in Tuesday so I will be posting next Monday as well with updated bites. I expect the jig fishing to only get better and once the water really cools down we will start to Lindy rig big minnows to target a few Lake Vermilion giants.

Fall is rolling in and the fishing is only going to get better from now until ice up!!! Bring the ice fishing bibs and coat and let’s go catch some fish! I have limited availability the rest of the year so if you want to get out make sure you reach out and get on the books!!! Give me a call or text @ (218) 404-9200 to book your trip today!!

Tight Lines!
