September 16-22, 2024
Water temps: 68-71
This week was very up and down on The Big V! Fishing was respectable and we were able to get some quality fish but it’s not the amazing early fall bite everyone loves.
Warm weather at the beginning of the week really slowed down my jigging fish! No surprise really, when it’s 80 degrees at the end of September the fish don’t really know what to do.
We caught fish every way possible! Jigging, lindy rigging, and lead core were the three main ways we caught fish this week! Lead core was better before this cool down and jigging has been better after the cool down. However you like to fish and however you can catch them right now, do that. You can catch them 100 different ways this time of year, just do what you know best.
My best bite has been on jigs in 16-26’ of water. Fishing gravel to sand to mud transitions on deep break lines has been where I’ve had the most action. Being close to rock has produced a lot more fish than sand humps and deep holes. I imagine the deep holes will start to hold more fish if we can get some cold weather that stays. They are predicting 80 degrees by the weekend here again…..
I have limited availability the rest of the year so if you want to get out make sure you reach out and get on the books!!! Give me a call or text @ (218) 404-9200 to book your trip today!!
Dont forget I will now be offering a 16’ ice castle for rent this winter! Perfect sleeper shack for 4 people! Whether it’s a family get away or a guys weekend, give me a call and I will you get you out on the ice! The house comes with a stove, oven, bathroom, rattle reels, 4 beds, and a generator provided. Bring your gear and start fishing!
Tight Lines!
