June 18-24, 2024
Week #6 of the open water season! June 18 – 24, 2024
Water temps: 66-73
Mayflies, mayflies and more mayflies. That’s been the story this week on Vermilion! Finding areas without bugs is the key to finding fish that want to bite. It’s been tough, but you can still put some fish in the boat with a little bit of effort!!
We have done a little bit of everything to catch fish this week! We are still focusing on rock piles and points in 6-15’ of water but we are quickly transitioning to mid summer locations. Sand humps with scattered rock are starting to hold a lot of fish. The ones with no bugs hold fish that will bite!
We used alot of different presentations this week! Soft plastics, bobber and leech, jig and crawler, jig and minnow, lindy and a leech, and a lindy with a minnow all produced walleyes this week. The name of the game right now is moving spots and trying all kinds of presentations to see what they want. It’s changing daily with different weather and winds.
As always this time of year, tons of smallies are mixed in on these rock piles and points. A slip bobber and a leech is a fantastic option but your soft plastic of choice and top water baits can provide endless fun on artificial baits!
I have availability remaining for the rest of the summer! Give me a call or text @ (218) 404-9200 to book your trip today!!
Tight Lines!
