Week #8 of the open water season! July 2-9, 2024
Water temps: 68-74
This was the best week of fishing we have had over the span of the last 3 weeks. The walleyes are starting to bite again as we are nearing the end of the bug hatches.
Our best bites this week came on a Lindy rig with whatever bait you like. Crawlers, leeches and minnows are all producing fish!
Pulling Lindy rigs on the sand/mud and sand/rock transitions in 15-25 FOW at .4-.6 mph is producing the most fish. Changing hook colors has seemed to help catch a few more fish in each spot. Red hooks have been the best.
Only catching a few fish on each spot is still the theme with these fish. So keep moving and dragging baits through pods of fish and picking off the hungry ones!
We are still getting a few nicer fish on bobbers with a crawler or leech during the lower light hours. Soak the bobber on rock piles and wind blown points.
As always this time of year, smallies are everywhere. A slip bobber and a leech is a fantastic option, but soft plastics and top water baits can provide endless fun!
I have availability remaining for the rest of the summer! Give me a call or text @ (218) 404-9200 to book your trip today!!
Tight Lines!
