2025 Opening Weekend!

Opening weekend! 5/10-5/12, 2025

Water temp: pike bay 55-60 and main basins 48-52

Opening weekend walleyes!!! There was no shortage of action this weekend! Limits were filled early and there was plenty of big fish to go around!

Saturday and Sunday we caught all of our fish in Pike bay trolling cranks or jigging. Trolling we were long lining floating Rapalas at 2-2.5 mph. When we were jigging we would spot lock and either vertical jig or pitch around and catch plenty of fish. Then reposition and repeat!

Today, Monday, we caught all of our fish in 30+ feet of water focusing on deep holes, jigging. These holes still had a lot of fish as the water is still very cold. Even though the surface temp is higher than normal right now, once you go down a foot or more it drops dramatically. All of our deep water fish came on the west end of vermilion.

I have not found any fish shallow on rocks yet, the cold front coming will probably push that bite back a bit.
